July 11, 2009 - Notes on arrival and so forth.
I hate oysters. Went anyway because everyone else had the yen for them. Tried one. Sandy, slimy, kind like a dog chew toy and over-priced. What I don't do to keep the peace in this family. Lovely restaurant, great service, and in the middle of no-where for some reason.
Marlie and her grandpa could eat them until they burst. I wait for the explosion but decide that dog chew toys don't blow. No dessert. Home tonight is the cottage and when we get there Marlie tells her mother to leave. It's been two years since she's seen her grandparents and sharing is no where to be found. Leave. Go home. Get out of here, etc. She will not sleep with her mother. She refuses and informs us she is sleeping with us. Two years is a long time to wait. So we bargain a little. It is midnight, we are exhausted, and she is much younger. Her mother volunteers to leave before she gets up. Marlie is not willing to go to bed without us so we pile in like puppy dogs and sleep. When we awake in the morning, her Mom is gone.
No one is dead from eating oysters and its going to be a good day.
