Over The Rainbow

It's our last night in the cottage and Marlie and me are talking about when she was little. We are tired after our day of non-stop walking in San Francisco and a little dreamy eyed. Craig has tuned in the radio and music is softly playing. I tell Marlie about singing her favorite song "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" over and over to her when we are trying to get to tired little girl to sleep. I can't remember the words... "Over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo starts to play and we sing along happy he has blessed us with lyrics.

We talk about the best things of vacation. Beach walking for Sand Dollars. We find many pieces but no whole ones. Marlie finds a live one and sends it home to the ocean back to it's world, and family. Oh, little girl, I wish I could run on the beach with you every day! You are so incredible.

Meeting Diana, and helping to create Stella the Mermaid, and wild alligator garden with flamingos, the joy of getting her much needed Alcatraz outfit complete with cap and socks. Our trip to San Francisco, and our ride on the double decker carousel on Fisherman's wharf, cooking and making cookies, endless card games with grandpa! yes!

But the very, very best thing Marlie tells me as she drifts off to sleep: "Being spoiled by my grandparents and just hanging around here."

Somewhere over the rainbow
way up high
And the dreams that you dreamed of once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
way up high
Blue Birds fly
And the dreams that you dreamed of
dreams really do come true
Someday I'll wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimmey tops that's where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly
And the dreams that you dare to, oh why can't I?
