Horses on the Beach ~ Chanslor Ranch, Bodega Bay

Marlie on Jack.

This is her first "big" ride so it is an exciting day. Most of the horses at Chanslor Ranch are rescued and trained to perfection for trail rides. Our guide is bright, young, and an avid horsewoman.

Marlie does well but was a little spoiled by previous rides my sister, Sydney and I took her on. We would take Bronc by the bridle and jog with the horse - not an easy thing to do. A heck of a workout and she would giggle with delight until we were exhausted. Today is different though. She will be on a horse for an hour and a half and on her own. She's excited.

Jack plodded along dutifully despite her over cueing him. Marlie wanted Jack to go faster but with her cues being off he slowed down because he didn't know what she wanted. What a saint. On the way back and a little bored the guide allowed us to jog a bit and that perked her up. With lessons and time she will be a great horsewoman someday. She respects horses and has no fear.

Ann on Hank. At one point he simply stopped on her. Maybe he didn't feel like going to the beach?

My horse, Blaze, simply wanted to run ~ it was what he was meant to do. ~ It would have been sooo fun to run him... another time ...
